{"id":291246,"date":"2016-09-13T08:52:04","date_gmt":"2016-09-13T12:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rael.org\/?p=291246"},"modified":"2021-01-09T08:56:49","modified_gmt":"2021-01-09T13:56:49","slug":"10-biggest-corporations-make-more-money-than-most-of-world-combined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rael.org\/sk\/10-biggest-corporations-make-more-money-than-most-of-world-combined\/","title":{"rendered":"10 biggest corporations make more money than most of world combined"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>RAEL\u2019S COMMENT:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Time to seize all their belonging and end wild capitalism!<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s top ten corporations, including Apple, Shell and Walmart, have a combined revenue that is greater than the combined income of the 180 \u201cpoorest\u201d countries out of the world\u2019s total 195 sovereign states.<br \/>\nThe figures, which reveal that Walmart, Apple and Shell alone are now richer than Russia, Belgium and Sweden, were released by the campaign group Global Justice Now.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-nine of the world\u2019s 100 top economic entities are now corporations instead of countries \u2013 a rise from last year\u2019s staggering figure of 63. Out of the top 200 entities in the world, a whopping 153 were found to be corporations.<\/p>\n<p>The US, China, Germany, Japan, France and the UK comprise the top six economic entities followed by Italy, Brazil and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vast wealth and power of corporations is at the heart of so many of the world\u2019s problems \u2013 like inequality and climate change,\u201d\u00a0said Nick Dearden, director of Global Justice Now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drive for short-term profits today seems to trump basic human rights for millions of people on the planet. These figures show the problem is getting worse,\u201d\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n<p>The London-based campaign group released the figures in an effort to put increased pressure on the British government ahead of their working group with the UN.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting, led by Ecuador, was established with the aim of working towards a binding treaty that would ensure \u201ctransnational corporations abide by the full range of human rights responsibilities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe UK government has facilitated this rise in corporate power \u2013 through tax structures, trade deals and even aid programmes that help big business,\u201d\u00a0said Dearden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir wholehearted support for the US-EU trade deal TTIP, is just the latest example of government help to big business.
