I’ve been thinking about what you (Maitreya) said about the love particle being the graviton, the same particle involved in gravity, and about the idea that there is a particle involved in love. When we think about light, what is light? Light is something physical. It can behave as a particle or a wave. But what is darkness? Darkness doesn’t actually exist by itself. It is simply the absence of light. We can think about heat in a similar way. Heat is energy, but cold doesn’t exist as something on its own. Cold is the absence of heat. Maybe we can make the same parallel with Love. What are hate and fear? Could they simply be the absence of Love? When you notice that a room is dark, you can turn on the light. In the same way, when you notice negative feelings like hate or fear, you can turn on the love.

For every sense, it is a little difficult for humans to apprehend what light is, the photon, slightly difficult. It is easier for sound.
When you hear something, is there anything coming into your ear? Nothing. Vibration. So, what is it? Are there some particles of matter entering your ear? Absolutely nothing. Nothing, but vibration. In the same way, we are starting to discover that light is vibration, music is vibration, everything is vibration and scientists are slowly, slowly discovering the possibility that gravity is vibration too.
When Lotus sings, no particle comes out of her mouth but she creates a vibration. And this vibration makes molecules, atoms push each other. There is no molecule or particle coming from Lotus’s throat, but the vibration in her throat pushes some particles. These particles don’t move; they vibrate. And they make the next particle beside them vibrate also, and the next one, and the next one. And this vibration moves from particle to particle all the way to my ear. And in the ear,there is a membrane which vibrates, pushed by the particles.
There is no sound. There is just vibration. And the brain calculates this vibration and says “ah, there is a sound.” But there is no sound. There is no real sound. We create the sound with our brain.
Same, and what you said about light and darkness is beautiful. The photon is not only particles; it’s particles and vibration. And our eyes feel this vibration and call it light. And the brain, according to the number of vibrations, says “oh, it’s blue, oh, it’s green, oh, it’s black.”The brain creates it all. There is nothing actually entering any of our senses. Our supercomputer interprets – according to the level of vibration – this is this note, do re mi fa sol la si do, or blue or green. It is only the brain.
So, in this ocean of vibrations, there is an infinity of vibrations. Always come back to that.
Our ears can hear a very limited range of sounds – from very high to very low – but there is no highest note. You can go higher than Lotus, ten times higher, that is not the limit. There are higher sounds but we cannot feel them. And the same with the lower notes. You can go down to the lowest possible and you cannot say “this is the lowest.”You can say it, but you are wrong, because there are sounds lower still. How far do they go? Infinity! But a stupid scientist can say “this is the lowest note.” There is lowest and lower still is there one sound which is the lowest possible? There is not. Infinity! But we cannot perceive it.
The elephants, an animal I love, make sounds so low that we cannot hear them. But they communicate with these sounds. The whales also, in the ocean, they have sounds that no human, even with technology, can perceive. They call it infrasound. Going to the top, they call it ultrasound. But there is no limit.
We choose to perceive our environment according to what we can hear. In this world of permanent illusions. So, everything you see, you hear, you touch; it’s not what you think you see, what you touch, what you hear.
The most beautiful example that I use many times – you know, when you look at a beautiful sunrise, wow! – and the sun is coming out of the ocean. No. It was coming out of the ocean 8 minutes before. But the vibration we call light takes 8 minutes to travel to us. So, when you see the sun, you see the image of the sun as it was 8 minutes ago. If you want to see exactly when the sun rises, which is not possible for the human eye, if an instrument could detect exactly the moment where the sun comes out of the ocean, it would be 8 minutes before what we see. If you detect exactly where it is at the moment you see it rising, it is still night where the sun actually is.
So, you would have to go out and look at the sun when it is still completely dark then that is where the sun actually is. But think about it; how about the stars? The light of the stars doesn’t take 8 minutes to come, it can take months, years, centuries. Some stars you see, you see the light they emitted thousands of years ago. You cannot see the light of these stars where they are now, because they move. And the star you see here – you see it here, but actually it is there. That is an amazing work of astrophysicists, to make an accurate image of the universe.
To really have a better view, measuring the light is not enough. So,they use radio telescopes and that is not enough. Nothing is enough.
Again, as I have been teaching for 50 years, if you could see all the stars, all the sky would be white. Not a dot of light, but totally white. That is where we actually are. But we cannot trust our organs.
Do you realize how much we live in a world of illusions? With something as simple as a sunrise, it’s not true. And it is the same thing for everything.
We have to be humble and not trust our senses. What can we trust, not to measure, but to feel infinity? Supraconsciousness. Supraconsciousness doesn’t see, doesn’t hear, it is. And supraconsciousness will never give you any measurement of infinity. Because infinity, by definition, has no size. If we could measure infinity, it would not be infinity.
