Without these neurotransmitters, children with AADC deficiency "can't control their heads, can't sit, walk, or talk — they're bedridden," says Wuh-Liang Hwu, from the National Taiwan University Hospital. , who led a clinical trial of this gene therapy, called Upstaza.
